Insurance and Fees
Silver Hill Hospital is "in network" with many major insurance or managed care companies. This means that Silver Hill Hospital has a contract with these companies to provide specific services to members through his/her individual plan. Silver Hill Hospital requires payment, prior to discharge, to cover anticipated co-payments, deductibles or co-insurance for which the patient and/or guarantor is financially responsible.

Patients and their families should be aware that insurance contracts typically will cover inpatient treatment but typically will not cover treatment in our Transitional Living programs, although some contracts will cover a small portion of Transitional Living. In all cases our staff will help you determine the benefits in your contract and will try to obtain authorization to use the benefits that may apply. A deposit will generally be required for treatment in the Transitional Living programs that is not covered by insurance.

Silver Hill Hospital also accepts "out of network" insurance, that is, insurance coverage from companies that do not have a contract with Silver Hill Hospital. Typically, "out of network" insurance will cover only a fixed percentage of the total hospital charges. The patient and/or guarantor will be financially responsible for the remainder of the charges. Silver Hill Hospital requires a deposit, prior to admission, to cover these anticipated charges for which the patient and/or guarantor is responsible.

Insurance companies today require a demonstration of "medical necessity" before they will authorize treatment, even though the treatment is a benefit covered under the member's contract. Our Admissions team will assess "medical necessity" and make a recommendation about treatment. If the insurance company agrees with our recommendation, the admission will be approved, including the type of service and the number of days authorized for your care. If the insurance company disagrees with our recommendation, they will deny the admission and recommend an alternative level of care. In such cases the patient may elect to pay out of pocket for the treatment recommended by Silver Hill. A deposit is generally required in such cases.

A deposit may turn out to be more or less than the ultimate charges for which the patient is responsible. Any excess will be promptly refunded.

"The professionals who interviewed me made me feel at ease and I knew they knew what they were doing. It was important that I knew that they had dealt with problems like mine - I was not unique and they understood. They were coming from a place of real caring." - Robert G.
