Silver Hill has two main divisions. An acute care division offers traditional inpatient services for persons who require this level of care. Longer-term treatments are available in our Transitional Living division. Patients who are admitted to this division also live at the hospital but in houses, not in acute-care inpatient units. Patients may be admitted directly to either an inpatient unit or a Transitional Living house, depending on clinical appropriateness. In either case the admission process at Silver Hill Hospital starts with a telephone call from a prospective patient, a family member or a referring clinician. The Admissions Office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. At other times the Nursing Supervisor is available to accept admissions. The Nursing Supervisor can be reached by dialing 1-866-542-4455, extension 2300.

During the initial telephone call a staff member will ask for preliminary information regarding the prospective patient's illness and information regarding insurance coverage. An appointment will be arranged where a clinical assessment will be conducted. The admission process includes a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's condition, patient and family education of the diagnosis and a discussion of treatment options offered by Silver Hill Hospital. Upon completion of the assessment the patient will be admitted to the Silver Hill Hospital unit that is appropriate for the type of treatment needed. In some instances, neither inpatient care nor Transitional Living are appropriate and alternative treatment options will be suggested.
