Silver Hill Hospital is pleased to announce the re-opening of its Adult Outpatient Department, with three intensive outpatient programs (IOPs).
Dual Diagnosis/Chemical Dependency IOP program meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:45 – 8:30pm. This program is also appropriate for patients with only a chemical dependency diagnosis. Groups cover a range of topics, including Understanding Dual Disorders, Relapse Triggers and Prevention, Drug Addiction and the Brain, Understanding Emotions, Self-Esteem and training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills such as distress tolerance.
The Dialectical Behavior Therapy IOP meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9am – 12pm. This program is designed for patients experiencing difficulty regulating intense emotions, impulsivity and harmful behaviors. The four-week program teaches patients the core Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills of Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Distress Tolerance. To be eligible for this program, patients must be at low risk for self-harm behaviors and make a full commitment to learning DBT skills. The DBT IOP also offers a weekly DBT Family Meeting with Kevin Holtzman, Psy.D.
A new Women’s Trauma and Addiction IOP meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am – 12pm. It is designed for women who struggle with drugs or alcohol and have experienced some form of trauma such as early physical or sexual abuse, emotional abuse or a traumatic event. Groups in this four-week program include Seeking Safety, Exploring Life Patterns, Managing Emotional Triggers, Recovery Skills and Relapse Prevention. DBT skills such as mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness are also introduced.
All of Silver Hill Hospital’s IOPs may be covered by insurance. They require that patients remain in treatment with a community-based therapist or, if appropriate, a community-based psychiatrist for medication management. Groups are led by licensed clinicians; the clinicians working in the DBT IOP are intensively trained. |
