DBT Program
Silver Hill Hospital offers a hospital-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for patients with severe personality disorders and a history of damaging, impulsive behaviors.
Silver Hill Hospital’s DBT program, for adults 18 years of age and older, is unique because it encompasses both inpatient hospitalization and residential Transitional Living. For patients who need to begin with our inpatient program to achieve adequate symptom stabilization, DBT training begins there and continues in Transitional Living. Other patients will be admitted to our residential Transitional Living Program for DBT, either from another inpatient program or from the community, after a brief period of observation on one of our inpatient units.
Most patients with severe personality disorders also struggle with additional illnesses such as mood disorders, substance use disorders or eating disorders. At Silver Hill Hospital the usual patient has such dual disorders and, as a full-service psychiatric hospital, we routinely provide coordinated treatments for each. In the DBT program, patients can expect all the elements necessary for a comprehensive treatment plan in addition to their DBT skills training.
The minimum stay for the Transitional Living program is 28 days for patients transferred from the inpatient units of Silver Hill Hospital. Patients seeking admission from the community or other facilities will require a brief stay in an observation bed on the inpatient service prior to beginning treatment in the DBT track of the Transitional Living Program. |
