Yes. You will be assigned to one of our full-time staff doctors with whom you will meet regularly. The doctor will get to know you and do a careful diagnostic assessment. Based on this assessment you and your doctor will develop a treatment plan. If it includes medication your doctor will initiate medication treatment, adjust the dose as needed and assess its effectiveness.
Yes. There is a psychiatrist on site at Silver Hill Hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Yes. You should bring all medications you are currently taking, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamin supplements and homeopathic remedies.
Your psychiatrist will determine what medications are appropriate. Any medication changes will be discussed with you prior to being made.
Yes. Time is set aside each day for school work under the guidance of a certified teacher.
Yes. All inpatient units are locked.

Your psychiatrist will discuss with you how long you will be here for treatment. The average length of stay is 7-10 days.

Yes. Adults and children 12+ who are members of your immediate family may visit you. Only 2 visitors are permitted at a time in designated areas.

If you wish to leave the hospital prior to your suggested discharge date, you are encouraged to discuss it with your psychiatrist.
We take discharge planning very seriously and our clinical staff will work with you and your family from day one to create a safe, healthy, and meaningful plan for life after you are discharged. This may include further residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, or scheduled appointments with your physicians and therapists.
