Kate McLean, LCSW
“The reason I have so much passion for Dialectical Behavior Therapy is that I've seen that it works.”
Kate McLean, LCSW, brings her well-placed passion for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to her position as Program Manager of the Adolescent Transitional Living Program. DBT teaches the practical skills necessary to regulate emotions, control destructive behaviors and improve interpersonal relations.
“A majority of my patients come here because they struggle with regulating emotions,” Kate says. “I can promise them, and their families, that they will leave the program with more coping skills in their toolbox than when they first came.”
As unit manager, Kate runs DBT groups, carries a case load of individual therapy, works with families, manages programming and scheduling, and works with the unit’s residential counselors.
“What’s wonderful here,” Kate says, “is that my co-workers are always so concerned about providing the best treatment possible, about always improving, and about working hard to make sure that we are giving the best care possible.”
