Silver Hill Hospital Blog

Silver Hill began this blog to share our expertise and begin a dialogue with the public about mental illness. It is our hope that this will help to demystify and destigmatize a disease that has been shrouded in misperceptions, confusion and often incorrect information. We cover a range of topics, from suicide to addiction to gardening, and the importance of nutrition in caring for the brain.

We hope you will submit questions and comments so we can further explain an illness that affects one in four Americans. If there are any other topics you would like covered, please send them along too.

We hope you will find this helpful, and look forward to hearing from you.

In the United States, we put a great deal of value on our jobs; sometimes to the point that we define ourselves by our job title. This may not seem like a big deal, but when your identity is your career, it can negatively impact your mental health.

Keep Medications Locked Away this Holiday Season
The holiday season is upon us and it is a time of celebration with friends and family.  It is important to use forethought when thinking about all of the people who will be coming and going at your home for holiday parties and get-togethers.  When opening your home to loved ones, always remember to keep the holiday celebrations safe as it could be an entrée to the use of prescription pain medications.
